Emmet County
Chimney Repair in Emmet County
Emmet County occupies the northwest tip of the Lower Peninsula around Little Traverse Bay, taking in Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Bay Harbor. It combines substantial year-round communities with some of the most weather-exposed high-value shoreline property in Michigan.
Lake-effect snowfall here is among the heaviest in the Lower Peninsula, and the bluffs above Little Traverse Bay leave chimneys fully exposed to wind coming off open water. Exposure of that kind concentrates damage on the windward face rather than spreading it evenly.
Tall Stacks on Emmet County Shoreline Homes
A lot of the newer shoreline construction runs tall chimneys to clear steep roofs and reach above wind turbulence. The taller the unsupported masonry above the roofline, the more leverage wind has on it, and the more the crown and upper courses take.
Chimneys of that height need their upper section checked specifically. From the ground you cannot see a cracked crown or a displaced top course, and on this coast those are the two things most likely to be wrong.
